Scheduled events at the Kindred Library include:
Breakfast with a Book – second Saturday of the month
Breakfast with a Book meets 9:00 a.m. at the Library. Participants enjoy coffee and treats while discussing the selected book. 2011-12 book selections are: October 8 - "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana deRosnay; November 12 - "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand; December 10 - "A Christmas Visitor" by Thomas Kinkade, January 14 - "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" by Mark Haddon; February 11, 2012 - "The Friday Night Knitting Club" by Kate Jacobs; March 10 - "A Stolen Life: A Memoir" by Jaycee Dugard; April 14 - "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford; May 12 - "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. A copy of each discussion book is available at the Kindred Library; participants can attend any or all sessions.
Leap into Reading as We Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday - February 28, 2012
Children, ages 2-10, are encouraged to visit the library for stories and more to celebrate leap year and Dr. Seuss' birthday - check out the brochure!
Festival of Tables - Spring 2012
The 6th annual Festival of Tables luncheon and purse raffle is currently in the planning stages. Tables are decorated according to the hostess-chosen theme, and a luncheon is served. Anyone interested in more information about being a table hostess should contact the chairpersons. The purse raffle has become a fun addition to the Festival of Tables. Contact the chairpersons if you would like to donate a purse and/or contents.
Tour of Homes - November 20, 2011
"Come Home for the Holidays" started at the Library with coffee, cider, and goodies. A big thanks to the homeowners who allowed their houses to be on the tour - Brian & Beth Wetli, Mark & Danni Sanders, Perry & Sandy Piatz, and Jason & Amanda Gette.
Christmas Holidaze - December 4, 2011
This has become an annual event held in conjunction with the Kindred Public Library, Kindred Park Board and Kindred Community Club. Lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival Santa arrival in the City Park added to the afternoon's festivities. Funds earned from the 2011 event were donated to the "Save the Pool" fund.
